What is Pallet Racking?

Pallet racking is a storage system designed to store materials on pallets, in horizontal rows with multiple levels. It’s a way to increase storage density and is an integral part to most warehouses, retail centres, manufacturing and storage facilities.

What’s the most common type of Pallet Racking?

Adjustable Pallet Racking (APR) is probably the most widely used system for storing pallets. Our range of adjustable pallet racking includes standard, Narrow aisle racking and galvanised racking. This is generally the best storage solution for warehouses. Racking beams are available as open or boxed sections and are designed to suit any load capacity, We can design, build and install this for you, or supply and deliver only as required.

Can I Making Alterations to Pallet Racking?

Yes, but it will need to be checked out to confirm the alterations are safe and the integrity of the system is not compromised.

New & Used Pallet Racking

We can offer new or used racking, new racking is not always more expensive as we can design the system to suit the product and space available, rather than supplying a product that may be over specified.

How does pallet racking work?

Pallet racking systems store products on pallets in horizontal rows with multiple levels. Generally, pallet racking consists of upright steel frames with beams laid in a horizontal orientation between the frames. Pallets rest on the horizontal beams between two sets of uprights, this is called a bay.

What do I need to know before ordering Pallet Racking?

Pallet size, pallet loading, space available, height restrictions (building height, height FLT can lift) Type of fork truck being used.

What else do I need ?

It is advised that you protect your pallet racking against impact from forklift trucks, eg. you can inexpensively and effectively protect the Racking upright posts and the end of the runs with column guards Racking end barriers. Yes, we have racking installation teams based throughout the UK. <br /> Racking is erected and levelled in accordance with the SEMA Code of Practice and all of our installers are trained in the appropriate plant training.<br />

We offer various ways of protecting your pallet racking, Column guards steel or plastic are available, end barriers, back stop beams, guide rails, anti-collapse mesh to the rear of the racking.

What loading will my pallet racking take?

We will design the Racking system to work with the wight of your pallets, to make sure the system is not over loaded, it is possible to adjust this at a later date with heavy duty beams, but the full spec of the system would need to be checked to confirm this is possible.

How long does Pallet Racking last?

Pallet racking can last for years, as long as it is well maintained. It is recommended you have a SEMAS approved safety inspection once a year, alongside your inhouse weekly inspections to pick up any damage, we can arrange for this if required.

How Much Pallet Racking Do You Need?

This will all depend on how many pallets you would like to store, we can design a layout to suit a certain pallet requirement or we could design a system to maximise the building.

What about Pallet Racking Maintenance?

If the racking is installed and operated according to the guidelines the system should be relatively maintenance free. It can be cleaned using a damp cloth to remove dirt.

How Much Does Pallet Racking Cost?

As every project is specially designed to suit the product stored and the size of the building, every project is individually priced, we can offer a free site survey to discuss your requirements and price accordingly.

How often should pallet racking be inspected?

It is the duty of every responsible employer, to ensure that warehouse storage space is a safe place to work. While the Health and Safety Executive Guidelines do not make it a legal requirement to inspect pallet racking on an annual basis, they do recommend.
