Live Pallet Racking

While the majority of racking solutions use the LIFO (last in, first out) method of storage, this isn’t well suited to every business. The storage of perishable goods in particular benefits greatly from a FIFO (first in, first out) system, which allows for precise product rotation, and has the potential to dramatically reduce wastage.

Of these FIFO systems, live pallet racking is arguably the most popular and efficient solution. Sometimes known as gravity flow racking, this system uses a series of rollers on a fixed incline. Pallets are inserted at the upper end of each lane and picked at the lower end, where the next pallet slides into place.

Because only a picking face and loading face are required, live pallet racking is one of the most efficient forms of racking in terms of pallets stored versus floor space used. Handling time is reduced significantly due to the automated replenishment of pallets, while a number of safety features (including breaks and speed controls) protect the user.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the design and installation of racking solutions, Invicta Racking is ideally positioned to create your live pallet racking solution. With a complementary site visit, our dedicated project manager will assess the unique requirements of your business and facility, and produce a storage solution to match your ambition.
